Winter Wedding Series - Part Two

Welcome to Part Two of the Winter Wedding Series. This time the focus is on Bride and Groom Style from wedding dresses to suits, what's hot at the moment and some tips to help you through your day. If you missed Part One check it out here

There are two things that, in my opinion, take a wedding dress to another level. These are:

  1. Pockets
  2. Long sleeves

I mean who can't love a dress with pockets? At last a wee place to put your lipstick or a hanky and they are great for avoiding those awkward had shots in photos.

Winter weddings are also perfect for long sleeved gowns like these offerings below:

Winter Brides can also have fun with layering accessories from capes or tartan blankets (perfect for a Scottish wedding) or create edgier looks with leather jackets. I absolutely love the personalised ones and have found some amazing designs from Wolf and Rosie. I am not sure why but wedding dressed and leather just work so well together. Capes are also an excellent alternative to a veil - we love this design from Flossy & Dossy:

On the topic of layering - another top tip is to wear a pair of tights under your wedding gown - this can help keep you nice and cosy for those outdoor shots and then you can whip them off later when you are back inside.

I also think that when winter falls it is time to put away the beautiful fresh flower and instead bring out all the glitz and sparkle when it comes to your hair accessories. We absolutely adore Tilly Thomas Lux’s beautifully crafter hair clips, bands and crowns.

When it comes to makeup for my winter brides,  I absolutely adore creating glowing porcelain skin teamed with a red or berry lip or even cracking out the glitter for a subtle but effective smokey eye.

Lets not forget about the boys - Tweeds and Woollen suits work perfectly for winter weddings. The boys will look dapper yet still be cosy, and did someone mention velvet? It is the must have fabric of the moment after all. Or how about straying away from the usual blacks and navy and opting for forest green, purple or maroon suit jackets?
